Creating The Conditions ~ Heartrepreneur Magazine

Recently I published an article in Heartrepenueur Magazine, called Creating The Conditions. Here is part of the article:

I’ve been a massage therapist since 2001, and a life coach since 2013. In both arenas I support others in the process of healing. Since 2010 I’ve been working in pain management doing massage, and our intention in the office is to create the conditions for the body to heal itself. The body knows what to do, it’s fascinating and intelligent. It compensates for the injured part and is always seeking balance and homeostasis.

In the pain management office, there’s Chiropractic care, decompression machine, physical therapy, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (tens) unit and massage. We are creating the conditions for the body to heal itself, and the patient/ client has their role as well. It depends on the client to support the healing by how they take care of their body. Taking care of the physical body with proper hydration, sleep, nutrition and exercise. The physical body is one aspect of our humanness, our emotional and spiritual are other aspects of us. We are multidimensional, and multi-sensory. I like to say complex and yet simple.

The emotional body operates in the same way, it seeks to be whole and balanced. It does this through emotions of fear, anger or grief. A combination of these emotions and also some degree or level of the three. Our job is to create the conditions for the emotional state to be integrated; which means to be felt, heard and seen and ultimately transcended. These emotions are energy and it knows what to do for integration, just as the physical body does. When we provide the conditions on the inner level the process of integration can occur. Another part of the emotional body is the mind, an aspect of us that protects and avoids. Our conditional mind will tell a “story” of the emotions to avoid and protect us from feeling our emotions. Developing a space between the story and emotional state is where we can create the conditions to allow the feelings to be felt and seen. This is a process that can be learned and experienced. It is only through our true feeling and accepting of our emotions that will bring us to integration and balance. In working with my coaching clients, the best way I give them a sense of connection to this process is the metaphor of the inner child. Imagining the emotions as a child, and embracing the emotions as you would a child who comes to you with their feelings and emotions.
