“This January start the year with an empty jar. Each week add a note with a good thing that happened.
On New Year’s Eve empty the jar and read about the amazing year you had”.

I saw this on Facebook and loved the idea! What a great way to begin a new year, new possibilities and new intentions. This past Christmas I gave my loved ones a Jar to start their own ‘Jar of Good Things’. I’m not sure if they’re committed to doing it, at the very least they are inspired to do so.

I began 2020 with taking note of good things that are happening. I’ve discovered that during these few weeks ( we are only in January) , several good things are happening which has led me to several notes in one weeks time.

The Jar is supporting you to focus on what you define as good in your life. It is very easy to focus on the things you don’t like or what you define as negative, and it takes conscious effort to notice the ‘good’ things in your life. This is where the Jar gets very interesting…you begin to recognize good vs bad things and the imaginary scale of both. Imaginary scale are the operative words; possibly the Jar has a deeper meaning than what it proposes, or maybe not?

This simple exercise is a step into becoming aware of what you are experiencing that you define as good and the contrast to that which is not good.

You give it all the meaning it has for you…the Jar…. and all the meaning in what life is offering to you, every year, everyday, every week, and every moment. Everything is how you see it through your own lens of perception. With this knowledge, you get to decide what you keep and what to let go of that no longer serves you.
